**Learning Community: Improving Mathematics Instruction by emphasizing Real-world scenarios. **

**Description**: Mathematics evolve from the study of real-world problems; for which the underlining rules and concepts are described in abstract forms. For example, mathematics subject such as geometry is the abstraction of the area of shapes and their distances. However, teaching of mathematics have since focused on the abstracted theories and concepts while leaving students loss for their use in their everyday, real world problems. Therefore, this learning community will focus on developing mathematics instruction methodology that will emphasize the equally important real-world problems and the application of the theories to them. Specifically, to engage the interest, and improve the performance, of students.
