Registration is open for our first workshop of the summer, on developing CVs and resumes. Interested participants have until June 14 to sign up, and the two-part workshop takes place June 22 and 29.
Registration for our introductory MOOC on evidence-based STEM teaching is open too, and there’s still time for CIRTL member institutions to develop their own local learning communities to support MOOC students.
Workshops Open for Registration in May
Developing a CV or Resume
June 22 and 29: 11AM-12:30PM ET/10-11:30AM CT/9-10:30AM MT/8-9:30AM PT
In this two-part online workshop, participants will learn how CVs and resumes vary for academic positions, non-academic positions, and grant applications. After learning about strong CV content, style, and organization, participants will develop long form academic CVs and short form resumes, and then refine them through a collaborative peer review process. Registration is open through June 14. Cap of 60 students.
CIRTL’s Massive Open Online Course (MOOC)
An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching
8 week MOOC, starting June 12
CIRTL’s introductory MOOC, An Introduction to Evidence-Based Undergraduate STEM Teaching, runs June 12 through August 6. Students will learn about a broad range of evidence-based STEM teaching techniques, including: principles of learning, designing learning objectives, assessing student learning, the benefits of active learning, inclusive teaching approaches, and lesson planning.
MOOC-Centered Learning Communities (MCLCs)
We encourage local CIRTL programs to run their own MOOC-centered learning communities (MCLCs) to support their students during the 8-week course.
Each MCLC will need its own facilitator. You can read more about what it takes to facilitate an MCLC, and sign up to be a facilitator at http://stemteachingcourse.org/mooc-centered-learning-communities-mclc/mclc-facilitators.
If you’re taking the MOOC, you can check to see if your campus is running an MCLC, and find contact information for your local MCLC, at http://stemteachingcourse.org/mooc-centered-learning-communities-mclc.

Opportunities across the Network
Many of our members run local activities that, while not official CIRTL programming, are open for broader participation. If you have a local program open to outside participants, let us know about it here.
